Dance Ministry Relentless Purpose
Purpose Dance serves as an avenue for those who desires to express their worship to God through the art and ministry of dance. We believe in training the physical body as well as the spiritual body to produce the totality of Excellence. We accept ages 4 – adults, male and female, all ethnicities, and all levels of dance from entry beginner level to professional level and from those who may be at the beginning of their personal relationship and walk with God to those who have developed a solid firm foundation in their relationship and walk with God.
Purpose is designed for the dancer that has a calling, serious passion, desire and focus to worship God through Dance. While we believe that everyone must have the correct heart’s posture, we also believe that you must require a skill level for dance ministry as well. No, you are not required to be at a professional level of dance. However, we do require that you do have at least a beginners’ intermediate level of dance with a good understanding and knowledge of movement.
There is an audition process for ages 15 – adults to be a member of Purpose. However, ages 4-14 yrs will be accepted with no audition, as ages 8 – 14 will be given an assessment to be placed within the correct dance level.
Weekly classes will be required to be a member of Purpose Dance. If you are at an advanced or professional level, you will not be required to attend classes, but will be asked to help with the classes. However, everyone will be expected to attend all Rehearsals.
Weekly Technique Classes –Technique classes are separate from rehearsals. Technique classes are designed for learning and how to properly execute the technique for each dance genre such as the differences between ballet and modern.

Entry Beginners 10-14 yrs
Thursdays – 6:30pm – 8pm
Beg Intermediate – 10 – 14 yrs
Thursdays – 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Int / Adv – 15 – Adults
Tuesdays – 7pm – 9pm
REHEARSAL DAYS – Rehearsal days are separate from technique classes. Rehearsals are designed for learning choreography for specific dance pieces and events. We utilize the technique learned from classes in choreography.

Leader/Teacher
Our Leaders and Teachers have a heart for dance and working with groups of students. They are knowledgeable in multiple genres including ballet, jazz, modern and hip-hop.
Teacher Assistant
The Teacher Assistant helps Teachers and Dancers with classes, meetings, performances, and general information. They have a heart for dance although they may not be a dancer.
Parent Volunteer
This is for parents who want to volunteer within the Dance Ministry and would like to help/support the ministry in any way they can.
Yes, you can serve as a leader and be a dancer as well. Please fill out both the dancer registration and the teacher registration.
**You may purchase your dance attire at the Sock Basket on Laurens Rd, Greenville, SC for a 15% discount.
Children: Girls
Please wear black leotard and pink tights with leather or canvas pink ballet slippers. Please bring a pair of sneakers for varied dance styles. Many items can be purchased at a local dance store or Target/Walmart.
Children: Boys
Please wear comfortable black active wear. Many items can be purchased at a local dance store or Target/Walmart. Please purchase black slippers for technical training and bring a pair of sneakers for varied dance styles.
Adults
Please wear comfortable black active wear. Many items can be purchased at a local dance store or Target/Walmart. Please purchase skin colored slippers for technical training and bring a pair of sneakers for varied dance styles.
Ballet, Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, African Movement, and Hip Hop will be offered.
Yes, childcare will be provided during class times but you will need to request it upon registration.
