Super Bowl Edition: Who’s on Your Team?

Inside Relentless operates as brand-new, inclusive blog space capturing the latest stories of Relentless Members and church events, both near and far. On this Super Bowl Sunday, we had the chance to chat with a few people to capitalize favorite moments from the sermon and also to see where their allegiance lied in this year’s Super Bowl… in the Kansas City Chiefs or the San Francisco 49ers.

Let’s see what Relentless members and first-time guests have to say!

Q: Where are you from?

A: Charleston, SC

Q: What parts of the sermon, Who’s on Your Team, did you connect with?

A: I left the sermon so much lighter after receiving so much from Pastor John’s breakdown about analyzing “your team.” Realizing who is with you plays a significant role in community. I became emotional when Pastor John mentioned forgiving and loving everybody.

Super Bowl Champion Prediction:

I am going to stick with Young Adult Pastor, Trevor McDonald, and his pick the San Francisco 49ers.

Q: What parts of the sermon, Who’s on Your Team, did you connect with?

As a huge football fan, I loved the presentation of Who’s on Your Team. From the coaches on stage to the verbiage. I found himself wanting to say Coach instead of Pastor and that brought excitement because that was something new for Relentless Church. My key takeaway is understanding the importance of caring for the injured players and how we shouldn’t dismiss injured players in this season. The connection between my love for football and my dedication to fight for souls caused the content of “Who’s on Your Team” to really hit home.

Super Bowl Champion Prediction:

Based on history, San Francisco is home of the greats and it’s been awhile since they’ve appeared in the Super Bowl. I am going with 49ers this year.

Chicago, Illinois

Q: What parts of the sermon, Who’s on Your Team, did you connect with?

We loved how creative the announcements were and appreciated the timely and relevant sermon. Robin found it powerful how Pastor John dissected the team aspects and related it back to the church body. Taylor took many notes from the message and shared with us her favorite from Pastor John stating, “you can’t get offended at your enemy for being your enemy.”

Super Bowl Champion Prediction

Taylor Maycan chose to side with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Robin Amer errs on the side of majority and chose the San Francisco 49ers.
